From DNA, you can discover not only potential diseases, but also your ancestry and even your talents!Imrich Barák | Teraz.sk | 23.03.2026DNA tests can reveal predispositions to diseases, athletic talent, and ancestral origin. The influence of genes on talent is complex and is also shaped by upbringing and environment. Some genetic disorders lead to disease with certainty, while others only increase the probability. DNA analysis can help in disease prevention by enabling lifestyle adjustments. DNA tests are also used in legal cases and in determining ancestry. In the TASR TV programme Zdravie, Lucia Illanitzová discusses with the director of the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, I. Barák.
